Sound Atmospheres materialize sensations stored in memory. Dario Imbò, through the alchemical process of dyeing, soaks the natural fabric in memories: four Summer nights, a sunny day, the evanescent moments of a dawn by the sea.

Sound Atmospheres don’t represent sound as a physical phenomenon, but they make visible the mental elaboration of a perception, of an experience. The textile fibre is so present and tangible that allows the spectators to connect with the sound imagery settled in their memory, in a concrete and primordial way.

This world of multisensorial suggestions is evoked by the subtle colour changes obtained through the process of dyeing. The irregularities in the fabric generate the background noise, a vibe that is vital to the artwork and rouses the spectator’s imagination. The artist confronts himself with poor material and, dipping it into colour, he gives a physical quality to passing sensations.
